Report on Civilian Deaths Resulting from SAC’s Airstrikes
April 4, 2025
On April 4, 2025, in Pekin Kaukhu village, situated between Moebye and Loikaw, despite the absence of ongoing clashes, SAC launched unprovoked attacks using heavy weapons and airstrikes, tragically resulting in the loss of five civilian lives.
Pekinkaukhu village was targeted by the Moebye-based Infantry Battalion 422 on the same day. The battalion relentlessly shelled the town and nearby villages with heavy weapons for nearly the entire day. At approximately 11:30 a.m., a civilian man residing in Pekin Kaukhu village was fatally struck by artillery fire.
In a second incident, at around 2:00 p.m., the SAC carried out an airstrike on Pekin Kaukhu village, dropping two bombs from a fighter jet. These bombs struck residential homes, resulting in the deaths of four civilian men who were inside and causing injuries to others.
Despite SAC’s announcement on April 2 that it would temporarily suspend hostilities nationwide due to natural disasters, it has persistently continued airstrikes in Karenni State from April 2 onwards. This blatant disregard for their own declared ceasefire statement underscores their shameless targeting of civilians with airstrikes.
Furthermore, since the devastating earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28, SAC has conducted three significant airstrikes in Karenni State and has engaged in near-daily artillery shelling. Given these circumstances, we urgently call upon the public and revolutionary forces to remain vigilant and aware of the ever-present security risks, as both military and natural disasters could strike at any moment.
